In the introduction of this video, Bill and Steve discuss the name of the company, Back Bay Shutter, and that although custom crafted, interior wood shutters is what put them on the map, they’re much more than a shutter company. This video illustrates that point quite well.
A customer in Brookline, MA called Back Bay Shutter to design motorized blackout curtains for a bedroom in her residence, utilizing the same weave as was used for
a shade on her door. The custom hand-woven shade by Conrad had striations of stainless steel, creating an amazing shimmer in the room when the lighting hit it at
a certain angle. Back Bay Shutter Company brought in a drapery workroom and worked in collaboration to provide a motorized custom hand-woven drapery with room darkening lining.
The other motorized installation featured in this video is for the library and upstairs reading room of the same residence. In the library, bright and sunlit, it was important for the client to be able to see her computer. Back Bay Shutter was able to line the shades without making them too bulky to roll up into the soffit. The result eliminated glare without making the room too dark. And, according to the client, "They’re quiet, they’re smooth, they’re really easy to use."
